Information about the hymn tune [A virgin pure, both meek and mild].
Description:The purpose of the present edition is to publish practical editions of these carols based on these conjectures, in open score, and in a style better adapted to modern West Gallery practice. In some cases it has been possible to attribute text or music, though much of both remains anonymous. The present edition has been made in the light of such research, which has enabled conjectures to be made about the nature of the lost manuscripts. Where sin abounded grace shall more abound! Text gives the author, where known. O solid buckler of afflicted hearts! The day must come, nor distant far its date, Time flies so swift and sure, O peerless and alone!
